What to do?

De Panne is best known for its immeasurable dune reserves, its wide beach and the ever busy atmosphere.

Beach

De Panne beach is one of the widest on the Belgian coast. Plentu of space for sunbathing or walking, but also for the practitioner of many beach and water sports, the beach of De Panne is a true paradise. The wide beach, without breakwaters and a very low slope is also one of the most child-friendly in Western Europe. Discover the immense beach plain that casts the low tide, or enjoy this spacious environment in order to finish a practice session of beach sailing with the wind in the sails. De Panne is also the cradle of this sport. Also strolling endlessly, a healthy jog, with or without dog or a budding morning walk on horseback are just a few examples of the possibilities that our beach has to offer.

De Panne, of course!

Salty sand grains, rustling trees, sweet drops, nurturing sun rays ... Experience our nature. De Panne is a succession of numerous reserves. Discover the walking dunes of the Westhoek reserve, the transition between the Oosthoek dunes and the polders, the grazers of the Houtsaegerduinen and the fossil dunes of the Cabour. The two beach-front sluices provide a true spectacle in the event of a storm.

The Flemish Visitors Center De Dunepanne

If you think that there are only gulls flying above the sea and the beach, then you should absolutely visit the Flemish Visitors Center De Nachtegaal, an initiative of the Flemish government. The dunes between Dunkirk and the IJzermonding are highlighted here. The location in the middle of the dunes ensures that the visitor can immediately get to know the dune landscape. The gray concrete blocks and the wavy, zinc roof ensure a good integration of the building into the surrounding dune landscape.
